Deciding to start the journey towards mental wellness can be very daunting, and yet here you are embracing the potential unknown and taking the first step for yourself. As you take these important steps towards self-discovery, it’s vital to have key elements present, such as, a safe and trusting space that encourages growth, open-mindedness to the process, an understanding that the goal is not perfection but to make progress, and someone who walks with you along that journey with empathy, patience, non-judgement, humility, and respect of who you are, your beliefs and values, and what you want out of life.
My private practice work is focused on supporting individuals ages 14 and up through adjustments and life changes/transitions, self-discovery, sexual orientation/LGBTQIA+ concerns, anxiety, depression, body image/self-esteem concerns, stress management, couples counseling, perfectionism, religious/spiritual identity and trauma, developing self-care practices, feelings of burn-out, career counseling, and educational concerns. I like to consider myself an eclectic therapist, as I integrate multiple therapy modalities and techniques into my work, all centered on what I feel will be most beneficial and resonate with my clients. I am currently also working on my certification to become a Certified Gottman Therapist to expand my training and specialized knowledge in helping couples and utilize these practices and techniques in my current therapy.
From a young age, I knew that my goal in life was to be an active listener and advocate for other’s ability to express their feelings/emotions, thoughts, needs, and wants. I received my M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2020 and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I’ve gained experience in a variety of settings including PK-12 Education, Higher Education, Salvation Army Family Residence, and non-profits.
I am a LGBTQIA+ therapist and am fully affirming of individuals who also identify as part of the community and advocate for all people that have experienced marginalization due to gender, ethnicity, sexual identity, physical and neurological differences, religious beliefs (or lack thereof) and socioeconomic status, and recognize that the more intersecting identities a person has, the more complex their experience may be.
Some fun facts about me are that I own a small crafting business called The Crafting Haven, am a cat mom to 5 babies (Luna, Toot Toot, Nova, Ellie, and Willow), enjoy visiting small historic towns, and love watching paranormal shows and movies.
