The decision to begin therapy can be complex and difficult. Whether therapy is the first or last thing you’re trying after deciding that something needs to change, I want to commend you for taking steps to care for yourself in this way.
Looking for the right therapist can be daunting. One of the most important things is to find someone that you feel safe and open with. I believe that healing and change happen most effectively in the context of authentic and caring relationships. I seek to provide this as the foundation of my work with clients. From this place, I support my clients in their journey to better understand and accept themselves, and engage in change. I welcome you to bring your whole, complex and unique self to our sessions regardless of age, culture, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, or any other identities that you find significant. Many of us have experienced the pain of inequitable systems and discrimination in a variety of forms and contexts. I value creating a space where all of you can be accepted and celebrated and see both similarities and differences as opportunities for connection.
We each have our own experiences in life that inform how we show up with ourselves and other people. Sometimes our past impacts us in the present in difficult and painful ways. At times we find that behaviors that helped us before inhibit us in the present. I take a holistic and strengths-based approach in my counseling work. I believe that we thrive most when we attend to all of the dimensions of ourselves, acknowledging and honoring the ways we have been able to adapt and overcome the challenging circumstances we have faced. As a trauma-sensitive counselor, I am ready to work with you in processing and healing painful parts of your history, and, if you want, finding new ways to adapt to the present.
Your process and work are unique to you. I commit to honoring your goals, pace, and process throughout our work together. Regardless of what brings you to therapy, I would be delighted to talk with you about what it would be like to work together. Please consider scheduling a brief phone consultation to discuss your concerns and possibly schedule an intake session.

Education and Training
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a Crisis Counseling cognate. I previously worked in the field of education for over eight years. My love for seeing students and families thrive in all areas of their lives drew me to shift into mental health work. I have a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During my graduate internship experiences, I had the privilege of counseling in private practice, university counseling, and school settings. In addition to private practice, I work in an intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization program for eating disorder treatment.
As someone who believes that variety is the spice of life, I am regularly dusting off neglected hobbies and picking up new ones including painting, knitting, sewing, pottery, gardening, baking, and traveling. I am happiest when I am sharing a home cooked meal with loved ones, playing with my cat Peanut, taking a walk, or enjoying a new video game with my partner.
